After the brilliance that was Dexter's Laboratory, Gendy Tartakovsky unleashes this greatest masterpiece of storytelling on TV. It's not just nostalgia. You watch it today and you get the same charm, the same wit, humor, action and adventure that you got when you first saw it. Maybe even more because of the nostalgia factor. It's the story of Jack, voiced by Phil LaMarr, who seeks to exact his revenge from Aku. Aku was voiced by the inimitable Mako Iwamatsu, who is sadly not with us anymore. As the samurai is about to deal the final blow to the Master of Darkness, Aku creates a portal to the future and hurls Jack into it, hoping to gain enough strength in this future to withstand Jack. Jack now has to work his way to Aku through hordes of his minions, futuristic, sentient machines and alien races that have come to call this dystopian Earth their home. Each episode takes place in a different setting and almost always has a different tone to it. Some are very dark and brooding while others are almost comedic. It adds a sort of ying-yang balance to the series; you never get too much of anything so it's always fresh, new and never boring. Jack doesn't say much so there is never much dialog but the other characters that he encounters more than make up for it.

Simply, if you haven't seen Samurai Jack, you haven't seen TV. (show less)

This is one of my favorite shows right now. It's the same old story, and yet it's somehow new - boy (Stefan) meets girl (Elena), which reminds him of his long-lost love. Girl falls in love with boy, who happens to be some kind of a vampire. Girl figures out boy's secret and gets upset. Of course, we also have the evil power, this time in the form of the attractive, irresistable brother of Stefan. Damon (portrayed by Ian Somerhalder) is "drop-dead gorgeous" and "sexy, older, dan... This is one of my favorite shows right now. It's the same old story, and yet it's somehow new - boy (Stefan) meets girl (Elena), which reminds him of his long-lost love. Girl falls in love with boy, who happens to be some kind of a vampire. Girl figures out boy's secret and gets upset. Of course, we also have the evil power, this time in the form of the attractive, irresistable brother of Stefan. Damon (portrayed by Ian Somerhalder) is "drop-dead gorgeous" and "sexy, older, danger guy". The show (although very similar) is way better than Twilight (The VD books came out 15 years before the first one of Meyer's saga) - the actors, although at first they seemed to be a little uncomfortable with their characters, are getting better with each episode. Although the show is a lot different than the books, it has its charm.
And I wonder, would they stick to the books with the whole Elena-Katherine-Other-Power thing or would they go in an entirely different direction? (show less)
